Located just south of the main town of Portimão, Praia da Rocha (Rock Beach) is probably the oldest and best know beach in the Algarve. Originally it was much shorter in width and with a lot more charm, but it still is a popular destination among beach goers. It is a beautiful beach, boasting the customary golden sands that we come to expect of Algarve beaches.

This beach can get extremely busy in the summer months due to its excellent conditions for water sports and boat-rides. It has a wooden walkway running the entire length of the beach with a selection of beach cafés and restaurants behind it, making it easy for families with pushchairs or wheelchairs to access all the facilities, and is a great place to get a taste of beach life in the Algarve. Known for its spectacular coastal scenery, the area is popular with walkers and nature lovers.
